Background

The School of Nursing and Midwifery and other schools in the Faculty of Health at the University of Newcastle are actively engaged in research in the following areas

  • Clinical simulation and clinical decision-making in nursing education
  • Workforce and professional issues
  • Work related injury and prevention
  • Acute Care nursing
  • Older person nursing
  • Mental health nursing
  • Paediatric, Youth and Family nursing
  • Midwifery

Much of this research is multi-disciplinary and is highly relevant to clinical practice and professional contemporary health service delivery in a range of settings and communities. This is supported by a rapidly growing research higher degree program and a continuing commitment to improving the quality of research outputs in collaboration with our research partners in the Faculty of Health and industry partners in Area Health Services.

The University of Newcastle JBI Evidence Synthesis Group is affiliated with the NSW Centre for Evidence Based Health Care, University of Western Sydney; and is made up of members from the Faculty of Health at the University of Newcastle.

All members of the Synthesis group, including the convenor, have either registered or completed the required Joanna Briggs Institute Comprehensive Systematic Review Training Program.
