Dr Arja Holopainen has a long career in nursing education. Currently she is working as a research director in Nursing Research Foundation. Her main research interests are in nursing education, mental health nursing and getting evidence into nursing practice and education.

Dr Professor Kaija Saranto, RN, PhD
Dr Professor Kaija Saranto has launched the first master's and doctoral degree programmes in health and human services informatics in Finland in 2000 at the University of Eastern Finland, Department of Health and Social Management following the international development in the field. She has actively promoted the educational premises for both university level and continuing education students. Her research interest is the role of classifications in EHRs as well as educational and organizational issues in information system implementation. Currently she is leading a research group focusing on Medication Safety.
 
 
Dr Sirpa-Liisa Hovi, RN, PhD
Dr Sirpa-Liisa Hovi acts as a Senior Researcher at Finohta of the National Institute for Health and Welfare (THL). She coordinates the Managed Uptake of Medical Methods (MUMM) –program where efficacy and safety of new medical methods in the fields of treatment and diagnostics are assessed.

The Nursing Research Foundation (www.hotus.fi) operates as the host institution of the Centre. The Centre has four co-partners: National Institute for Health and Welfare (www.thl.fi), University of Eastern Finland (www.uef.fi/stj ) , Mikkeli University of Applied Sciences (www.mamk.fi) and Northern Savo Hospital District: Kuopio University Hospital (www.kuh.fi).  In addition, the Centre has six affiliated partners: Hospital District of Helsinki and Uusimaa: Helsinki University Central Hospital, Pirkanmaa Hospital District: Tampere University Hospital, Northern Ostrobothnia Hospital District: Oulu University Hospital, Hospital District of Southwest Finland: Turku University Hospital, Satakunta Hospital District: Pori Central Hospital and Helsinki Metropolia University of Applied Sciences.

The expertise of the Centre concentrates around methods of systematic reviews and evidence implementation in the broad area of health care including acute care, primary health care and continuing care. A second field of expertise is delivering of a high quality course programs on systematic reviewing and evidence-based practice in general, as well as a follow-up implementation of evidence into practice.
