The Joanna Briggs Institute Fellowships and Affiliates
Overview
The Joanna Briggs Institute admits persons who have made a substantive contribution to the field of evidence based health care as Fellows or Affiliates. Fellows and Affiliates are admitted according to the rules of admission of Fellows and Affiliates.
The administration, direction and management of the admission of Fellows and Affiliates is entrusted to the Fellowship and Affiliates Panel, a group composed of the Executive Director; the JBI Committee of Management member nominated by the JBI Committee of Directors; and a member nominated by the scientific staff of the Institute.
Nomination and Admission of Fellows
The nomination and admission of Fellows is governed by the following regulations:
- Nominations of persons for admission to Fellowship shall only be received from registered JBI entities (i.e. Institute headquarters, Collaborating Centres, Evidence Synthesis Groups, Evidence Utilisation Groups, Evidence Appraisal Network or Evidence Transfer sites);
- Eligibility for nomination to the Fellowship shall be restricted to persons who have made a demonstrable, substantive contribution to the advancement of evidence based health care;
- The number of Fellows admitted shall be limited to 6 annually;
- Each nominee shall be proposed by a JBI entity and seconded by a Fellow on a form prescribed for the purpose;
- The selection from the total list of the nominees proposed shall be made by the Fellowship and Affiliates Panel;
- Every new Fellow admitted shall, at the JBI Convention or Colloquium occurring in the year of admission, be presented with diploma in a form prescribed by the Institute and an enamel ‘Fellow of the Joanna Briggs Institute’ lapel crest; be invited to attend the Annual JBI Fellows dinner in Adelaide, South Australia; and be provided with Electronic access to the JBI library of Best Practice information sheets, the JBI library of systematic reviews, JBI evidence summaries and evidence-based care bundles in JBI COnNECT, electronic access to the International Journal of Evidence-based Healthcare (formerly JBI Reports) published by Wiley-Blackwell, the Joanna Briggs online journal collection and the RAPid library database.
Fellowships are conferred without remuneration.
Nomination and Admission of Affiliates
The nomination and admission of Affiliates of the Joanna Briggs Institute is governed by the following regulations:
- Nominations of persons for admission as Affiliates may be received from any nominee;
- Eligibility for nomination as an Affiliate shall be restricted to persons who have made a demonstrable, substantive contribution to the Joanna Briggs Institute;
- There is no limit to the number of Affiliates admitted annually;
- Each nominee shall be submitted on a form prescribed for the purpose;
- The selection of nominees shall be made by the Fellowship and Affiliates Panel;
- Affiliates are appointed for a period of three years.
- Every Affiliate of the Joanna Briggs Institute will be provided with Electronic access to the JBI library of Best Practice information sheets, the JBI library of systematic reviews, JBI evidence summaries and evidence-based care bundles in JBI COnNECT, electronic access to the International Journal of Evidence-based Healthcare (formerly JBI Reports) published by Wiley-Blackwell, the Joanna Briggs online journal collection and the RAPid library database.
Affiliates of the Institute are conferred without remuneration.
