The Romanian Centre for Evidence Based Public Health: A Collaborating Centre of the Joanna Briggs Institute is hosted by The National School of Public Health and Health Services Management, from Bucharest, ROMANIA.
The National School of Public Health and Health Services Management brings together a powerful multi-disciplinary body of research, policy development and guideline development. The School has well-established strengths in providing National leadership in Public Health, Mental Health, Health Promotion and Drug and Alcohol.There is a particular expertise in developing national guidelines.
Sixteen members of the Centre have completed the JBI Comprehensive Systematic Review Training program.
The School has expertise across the spectrum of quantitative and qualitative research methods.
The National School of Public Health and Health Services Management, public institution under the coordination of the Romanian Ministry of Public Health, is responsible to the Ministry for the management of DRG data and the development of health policy, guidelines and practice improvement strategies for the Romanian health system.
The National School of Public Health and Health Services Management was established as a World Bank project for health management development in Romania and is a public institution under the coordination of the Romanian Ministry of Public Health. The School’s mission is to promote best practices in public health and health services management in Romania. As well as conducting education in public health and health services management, the School is responsible for the development of policy and for service development and improvement in public health, health promotion, mental health and drug and alcohol services. Situated in its own premises, the School consists of a large multidisciplinary team.
The Centre will play a pivotal role in the development, implementation and evaluation of evidence to promote, support and sustain health policy and practice based on the most robust evidence to enhance the quality of health care delivery in the fields of health promotion, public health, mental health and drug and alcohol services.. The Centre’s work will inform healthcare throughout Romania as well as contribute evidence to inform public health policy and practice nationally and internationally. Work will involve contributions from relevant health and social care professionals, consumers, managers and policy makers, to reflect the breadth and scope of the Romanian health care system.
The role of the Centre will be to:
- Lead on and promote evidence based approaches to public health
- Develop and facilitate a range of training programmes to inform evidence-based public health across Romania and the Balkans
- Participate in the collaborative activities of the Joanna Briggs Institute
- Undertake international evidence-based reviews and research (in a specified area) using inter-disciplinary and inter-collaborative research teams, and recruit reviewers with the relevant expertise and skills to develop the review
- Deliver high quality education and training through:
- Workshops on evidence based approaches to public health
- Supervision of research programs in evidence based practice
- Seminars and conferences focusing on evidence review, evidence utilisation and evidence generation through primary and secondary research
- Provide support to clinicians, health service users, health policy makers, health planners and health managers in evidence-based decision making and practice
- Generate high quality publications that contribute to knowledge
