Education and Training

In 2010, the management committee of the Centre will be running a series of training events.

KT Workshop

The Knowledge Translation program offers participants the opportunity to examine current evidence relating to implementing EBP and to become familiar with the PARIHS framework as a tool to facilitate successful implementation.
This program examines and explores the framework and enables participants to develop understandings of it and collaboratively create ideas and plans for use in their own work contexts. It is particularly relevant for those involved in quality improvement, safety and quality, and clinical practice improvement programs in healthcare organisations. Participants are also invited to become part of a collaborative led by Professor Kitson and to work with her on an ongoing basis after completing the course.

Aim

The aim is to enable participants to explore strategies to facilitate change and to increase evidence utilisation; and to familiarise participants with the PARIHS framework.

Objectives

To prepare participants to:

  1. discuss and describe the evidence relating to implementation of evidence
  2. describe and evaluate the elements of the PARIHS framework
  3. explore and examine ways of assessing and measuring factors associated with context
  4. explore and examine ways of assessing and measuring evidence
  5. describe and discuss approaches to facilitation
  6. develop and implement strategies to implement evidence into practice.
Expected Professional Outcomes

Participants who complete this program will be able to implement and maintain successful strategies for knowledge translation based on a clear understanding of the relationship between the evidence, the specific context in which care is being delivered and the degree of facilitation support required.
