Information on the Internet
You will need to use your own common sense about the value of the information you find on the Internet. There is no regulation on its accuracy, it can be difficult to know what you can trust and occasionally dangerous advice may be given.

A valuable resource if you wish to ensure that the information you are reading on the Internet is reliable can be found via the Health Insite website. They have produced a checklist for evaluating health information on the Internet. You may also wish to refer to the Joanna Briggs Institute Operational Guidelines concerning the publication of health information on the web.

Don't expect to find all the answers. Have a pen and paper ready to note any questions or concerns as you search. It may be useful to print out information you find to re-read it later. Talk to other people about Internet sites they have found useful. Please remember to discuss any medical information with your GP or specialist.
